The Role
We are seeking an experienced Production Support Engineer – Trading Systems to join a collaborative support team responsible for maintaining the stability and performance of critical trading and market data platforms.
This is a hands-on Level 1 / Level 2 production support role, supporting trading systems, order execution workflows, market data platforms, and clearing and settlement services. You will work closely with business users, traders, operations teams and technology stakeholders to investigate incidents, troubleshoot issues and ensure production systems remain highly available.
What You’ll Do
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support across trading, market data, clearing and settlement platforms.
- Act as the primary support contact for advisers, intermediaries, traders and execution clients.
- Support trading platforms including Iress & Others
- Investigate and troubleshoot issues relating to order routing, execution, market data, permissions and platform behaviour.
- Assist users with ASX and CBOE trading queries, exchange conventions and order workflows.
- Support market data platforms including Morningstar, EDI and related services.
- Manage production incidents through triage, escalation, resolution and stakeholder communication.
- Work closely with Technology, Product and Infrastructure teams to diagnose platform and performance issues.
- Manage vendor and third-party support engagements, including ticket logging and resolution tracking.
- Support clearing and settlement queries relating to CHESS/HIN processes and settlement workflows.
- Maintain runbooks, knowledge articles and operational documentation.
- Participate in CAB activities, platform changes and UAT support where required.
What You Bring
- 3–5+ years’ experience within Production Support, Application Support or Trading Systems Support environments.
- Experience supporting trading, market data, clearing or settlement platforms within financial services.
- Strong understanding of the equities trading lifecycle from order entry through to settlement and confirmation.
- Hands-on experience with Iress or similar Order Management Systems (OMS).
- Understanding of ASX and CBOE trading conventions and workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management capabilities.
- Ability to distinguish between functional issues and technical faults for effective escalation.
- Experience managing vendor and third-party support relationships.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across both technical and business teams.
- Comfortable working within fast-paced production environments supporting business-critical systems.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to platforms such as CRD, Fidessa, Bloomberg or Instinet.
- Basic SQL skills for support investigation and data validation.
- Familiarity with FIX protocol or REST API integrations.
- Exposure to ITIL aligned incident and problem management processes.
- Understanding of ASX Market Integrity Rules (MIR) and Australian equities regulations.
- Exposure to middle or back-office financial systems.
